Windows Systems Engineer in New York, NY

Immediate job opportunity for a Windows Systems Engineer / Field Engineer. Provide on-site Technical Support in the NY, NJ and CT regions. The position is direct/Full-time opportunity, which is home-based with approximately 90% in the field locally. This Job Opportunity is open to qualified job seekers in any of those locations. Additional nationwide travel that might be necessary. This opportunity is with leading Technology Company supporting the Media Industries (TV) with Digital Asset Management solutions. Experience in Media/Broadcast is not required. Our client will train the selected Systems Engineer.

Our client seeks a solid System Engineering background with enterprise level skills in MS Windows Server 2008, solid understanding of Server / Storage Systems, Clustering and install and deployment of MS SQL based solutions. Professional attributes include; Customer Service Orientation, Flexibility, Ability to learn and support new technologies, steady and unflappable. The selected System Engineer will be responsible for:

• Provide technical support and/or training on specific broadcast products identified above in the installation, “go live” and post launch support environments
• Provide direct technical support, commissioning and configuration of Automation and Digital Asset Management systems at customer sites as well as call center telephone support if assigned
• Focus on broadcast products to include: broadcast automation and DAM based systems
• Act as interface between Customer, Service, Project Management, Sales and Engineering addressing all key activities and/or issues relevant to the job assigned
• Provide customer consulting assistance on workflow, design, alternative approaches, system interfaces and application of the system
• Successfully manage a moderate to heavy workload requiring technical and practical knowledge; Utilize insight; good judgment; good interpersonal and time management skills on assigned jobs of varying levels of difficulty
• Attend internal training as assigned to gain knowledge of the Harris product lines to support system design and installation
• Provide "field" information regarding quality of design, interoperability issues
• Coordinate job acceptance and gain sign off with Customer, Sales and/or other key groups
• Act as a positive contributing member of a team reporting to a Harris Project Manager when assigned to larger projects
• May provide operational and maintenance training to customers and system integrators as assigned
• Interpreting and communicating technical or functional information in a “user friendly” manner
• Solve problems using independent thinking to adapt known methods or techniques based on previous experience and/or technical expertise

Required Skills

• BS Degree in Computer or Information Science is preference
• MS based certifications including MS Windows MCITP / MCSE is preferred
• 3 + Years MS Windows Systems Engineering experience
• 2 + Years supporting 2008 MS Windows Enterprise Server Clustering Solutions
• 2 + Installing and deploying MS SQL based applications
• Solid understanding of Enterprise Level Storage solutions including SANs and NAS based solutions
• Solid understanding of LAN/WAN and TCP/IP Networking in an Enterprise Environment
• Solid understanding of Workflows / Digital Asset Management (DAM)
• Ability to work across the spectrum including; Hardware, Software and Integrated Systems
• Troubleshooting/Diagnostic skills include; understand failure mechanisms of complex electronic systems with mechanical, electrical and software interactions
• Exceptional Customer Service Skills with the ability to Articulate explanations, alternatives and recommendations
• Ability to work under stressful/fast pace conditions
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and multi-task. History of meeting customer commitments
• US Passport is required
• An Engineering background in Media / TV / Digital Asset Management is a BIG PLUS
